How long will the repairs to my vehicle take?

Once the vehicle is on site and has been assessed we will then contact you to give you an indication of the repair duration. This can be influenced by factors such as the extent of the repair, authority from the insurance company or parts availability.

You can track the repair status of your vehicle by entering your Registration and Unique ID Number along the top of the page.

How much will the repairs to my vehicle cost?

Any repair undertaken through an insurance claim will normally come with an attached pre agreed insurance excess as part of the insurance policy. This is sometimes not applicable in cases where liability has been admitted or private repairs.

Will I have a replacement vehicle?

Depending on your policy entitlement, a replacement vehicle will be made available of either a manual or automatic transmission. Depending on claim circumstances vehicles of a similar standard may also be available as an option.  Courtesy cars can also be provided against private repairs providing we are in the receipt of a cover note or our fleet option is taken for insurance cover on this vehicle.

Who can drive the courtesy vehicle?

In most claims the insurance from your own vehicle will transfer straight onto the courtesy vehicle so whoever is insured on your own vehicle will also be insured on the courtesy vehicle.

What do I do in terms of Congestion Zone, Toll Crossings or if I am a Blue badge holder?

If you are entering the congestion zone in a courtesy vehicle you must either notify TFL on 0343 222 2222 or log on to and pay the relevant charges. Even if you are a Blue Badge holder, registered discount holder and have an exempt vehicle, you must still contact TFL to make your arrangement/payment when entering the Congestion Zone.

Where applicable you must transfer any parking permits to the loan vehicle and ensure you display your Blue Badge clearly within the car.

If you are passing through a Toll Crossing you must call and pay this crossing fee as soon as you pass otherwise DWS/TCW will debit the required amount including a 5% handling fee from the debit card form completed and signed on delivery of the loan vehicle.

What happens if I have an accident or mechanical break down in my courtesy vehicle?

In the unlikely event you are to have an accident in our courtesy vehicle, normally your same policy and excess conditions will apply. Please report the accident to your insurer and notify the repairing site immediately.

If you are unfortunate enough to experience any form of mechanical failure or breakdown in the vehicle supplied during business hours, please contact the site immediately or the manufacturer’s breakdown provider whose details will be provided with the vehicle.

I would like a repair done privately or additional work undertaken, can you help?

All DWS and TCW repair centres are able to complete work both privately and through insurances. If you would like a private quote either use our online estimate or find out the nearest repair centre to you and drive down for a quote. If you would like additional work undertaken whilst your vehicle is at one of our repair garages for an insurance claim, speak to a member of staff who can provide you with a private quote and we will then be able to complete the work whilst we have your vehicle on site.
